ABOUT
Barbara Kenneally is a visual artist based in Cork. Having retired from science, she graduated with a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Applied Art, Ceramics, Glass and Textiles from MTU Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork in 2016, receiving awards for both her photography and her glass sculptures.
Her work has been selected for the International Biennale of Glass Bulgaria in the National Gallery, Sofia in 2023 and 2025.
In 2017 Manchán Magan, the late Irish author and documentary maker, wrote:
“Barbara Kenneally has managed to create 3 tiny microcosms of nature held within small lumps of glass that look uncannily like floating icebergs – one peers insde them, as though entering another realm.”
Her photography is in the collection of The Office of Public Works. Her glass sculptures were selected for the International Biennale of Glass Bulgaria at the National Galllery, Sofia in 2023 and 2025. Her sculptures have been also been selected for Sculpture in Context at the National Botanical Gardens, Dublin in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2025. Her limited edition prints have been selected for Halftone, the annual exhibition at PhotoIreland Foundation, Temple Bar, Dublin, in 2018, 2019, 2020,2021, 2022 and 2025. She had her first solo exhibition, ‘Copperlight‘, in the Allihies Copper Mine Museum, Beara, West Cork, in 2025. Her work is held in private collections in Ireland, the UK, the USA, Canada and Australia
