ABOUT
Barbara Kenneally is a visual artist based in Cork. Having retired from science, she graduated with a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Applied Art, Ceramics, Glass and Textiles from MTU Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork in 2016, receiving awards for both her photography and her glass sculptures.
“Coming from a background of medical science, the transparency of glass allows for exploration of the surface and the subsurface, a very significant aspect to my work. Looking at and beneath the surface translates into all aspects of life.”
Her photography is in the collection of The Office of Public Works and her glass sculptures were selected for the International Biennale of Glass Bulgaria at the National Galllery, Sofia in 2023 and 2025 and at Sculpture in Context at the National Botanical Gardens, Dublin in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. Her limited edition prints have been selected for Halftone, the annual exhibition at PhotoIreland Foundation, Temple Bar, Dublin, in 2018, 2019, 2020,2021 and 2022.. She has exhibited in many galleries in Ireland, Italy (Venice 2023) and Bulgaria (Sofia 2023). This During Covid she was invited to show her work in London but this exhibition was moved on-line. She has been selected for both public and private commissions. Her work is held in collections in Ireland, the UK, the USA and Australia.
